Company Profile: A UK-based packaging manufacturer specializes in the production and supply of corrugated packaging. With decades of industry experience, the company serves a diverse customer base across food, drink, retail, industrial, and e-commerce markets. Title: Business Development Manager Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience - 25 days holiday plus birthday off plus an attendance bonus of £30 per month and £500 if the whole year is attended (paid at the end of the year). Company car. Purpose of job: To devise and implement sales and marketing activities which ensure continuous development of profitable business to attain an agreed annual objective. Key Accountabilities: * Establish and implement a business development plan for the company, which exploits the full potential from prospective accounts to achieve sales objectives. This to include the design, implementation and monitoring of effective marketing activities for all sales areas. * Supervise the telemarketing activities of the Sales Accounts Co-ordinator to identify development needs and maintain motivation. * Organise the most economical call plan, which ensures maximum use of available selling time with minimum expense. * Promote and project a first-class company image by providing competent technical advice, handling of enquiries and orders and troubleshooting as required. * Report on the status of all major negotiations and future opportunities within the system laid down by management. * Complete, each day, an Activity Analysis form, which accurately reflects the events of the day. Forward to the Sales Manager by no later than the end of the month. * Maintain constant awareness of market/prospect needs and competitor activities. Summarise these, together with significant developments related to sales activity and intended future actions in a monthly report. This to be submitted no later than the 10th of each month. * Compile and maintain customer/prospect records which are complete and accurate and in a form which can be readily accessed by the Management of the company. These to remain company property. * Be responsible for setting personal standards of discipline, integrity and work rate, which will command the respect of both colleagues and customers alike. * Establish a good working relationship with all company personnel which will ensure a high level of employee morale is maintained. * Maintain company vehicles in clean and tidy condition. Occasional duties: * Assist with collection of debts when requested. * Attend and participate fully at sales and management meetings * Occasional Account Management Duties Skills & Competences: * Thorough knowledge of paper grades, packaging styles and their practical applications * Sufficiency of commercial knowledge to understand and evaluate customers’ requirements * Interpersonal skills to develop rapport with customers and company staff alike and fully employ selling skills * Communication skills at a level which enables propositions to be made, and reports proposed in a clear and concise manner * Planning ability to maximise use of time
