We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Assistant Engineering Manager (AEM / Workshop Manager) to join Arriva Selby on a full-time, permanent basis.
As an Assistant Engineering Manager, your role will involve assisting the Garage Engineering Manager in running an efficient workshop that meets targets set by TfL, Arriva London, and DVSA. You will ensure service delivery to meet PVR requirements, operate within budget, and achieve core KPIs and regulatory compliance.

Main Responsibilities

* Be the designated person onsite for depot security and ensure all team members adhere to safe working practices and environment standards.
* Work under the instructions of the Engineering Manager, undertake tasks as outlined in the Leader Standard Work document, and perform other duties as required.
* Lead and supervise the team to ensure the efficient and safe servicing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and cleaning of vehicles and components according to specifications.
* Identify, plan, and allocate workload to ensure balanced work distribution and timely completion. Liaise with Working Chargehands to ensure on-road engineering performance targets are met, with clear communication and data capture.
* Ensure team adherence to work instructions, health & safety regulations, quality procedures, and environmental systems.
Requirements
* A strong engineering background with proven experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy vehicles, equipment, or machinery, preferably in the Bus/HGV industry.
* Recognized apprenticeship or vocational qualification in mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, a degree or diploma in engineering or vehicle maintenance.
* Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, leading by example in adherence (IOSH preferred).
* Ability to lead and supervise a team, fostering a safe and effective working environment.
