Job Description
Responsibilities:
1. Assemble and test prototype medical equipment and disposables. Work alongside engineers to recommend design and process refinements.
2. Carry out test protocols, DOEs, and other experiments prepared by engineers with little assistance.
3. Design test flow and write test procedures.
4. Apply basic engineering principles and practices to assist in solving design and development problems.
5. Assist with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
6. Interface with engineering, quality, and production personnel on various projects.
7. May interface with external vendors and customers.
8. Machine test fixtures and complete production reworks as needed.
9. Design, release test fixture documentation, and implement fixturing into production as needed.
10. Order and organize lab supplies.
11. Oversee maintenance, calibration, and repairs of equipment.
12. Ensure the lab is clean, organized, and well-maintained.
13. Perform other duties as required to support R&D and operations goals.
Qualifications:
* 8-10 years of experience working in a medical device manufacturing environment.
* Desired experience: complex disposables, intravascular catheters, optoelectrical subsystems.
* Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in engineering or a technical discipline is preferred.
* Proficient with good documentation practices, primarily maintaining lab notebooks and test datasheets.
* Hands-on, capable of managing time and priorities independently, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation.
* Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
* Ability to use measuring tools.
* Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
* Availability during core business hours (9AM-5PM) with willingness to work overtime up to 50 hours/week if required.
* Proficiency with machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, press, etc.) and soldering techniques/cable assembly is desired.
* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and SolidWorks is preferred.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (On-site in Bedford, MA)
