Summary:
Are you looking for a role that combines your communications skills with a strong purpose that will ensure there’s enough water for all?
Can you create customer and stakeholder campaigns to promote our environmental mission?
Do you have sound experience as a communications officer?
If so, don’t miss this rare opportunity to join our communications team…
We want to be the water company people want to be supplied by and want to work for.
As an enthusiastic, creative and adaptable Communications Officer, you’ll join our award-winning Communications team to develop and implement customer communications campaigns that support the delivery of our ambitious water efficiency targets in the PR24 Business Plan. The campaign will incorporate both online and offline communications, ensuring that all customers benefit from the programme.
You will be creating a mix of communication materials to create interest around saving water consumption in households. We’ve got ambitious targets to reduce the number of leaky toilets in our region and undertake visits to customers' homes, using SMART meter data to target those needing the most help. Currently, there is no communications plan, so you’ll be responsible for developing, getting approval, and rolling it out through various channels, both above and below the line, which may include digital and traditional media. If you are ready to make an impact and support our environmental mission, this role is for you.
You are comfortable liaising with different stakeholders and understanding the needs of our customers. Your background in PR, Communications, or a similar discipline will enable you to translate complex information into suitable communication materials for diverse audiences. Experience in a water or utilities company is preferred but not essential.
This is an exciting time to join our team as we’re redefining our communications strategy. You’ll have the opportunity to share new ideas and gain recognition for your talents in writing, media relations, digital communications, and stakeholder engagement.
Main responsibilities:
* Developing and implementing a customer communications campaign supporting water consumption systems.
* Understanding the communities we serve, identifying key stakeholders, and producing targeted communication campaigns.
* Managing multiple projects to produce high-quality outputs to deadlines.
* Drafting various customer and stakeholder materials, including plans, statements, press releases, presentations, articles, website copy, FAQs, and social media content.
* Transforming complex information into accessible materials for the public.
* Exploring new communication ideas and methods, demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop skills.
* Identifying potential risks to the company’s reputation and raising concerns appropriately.
* Creating opportunities for positive media coverage, including press releases, media events, interviews, and briefing spokespeople.
* Organizing and attending community and stakeholder events, both in-person and virtual.
* Collaborating with the Campaign Marketing Manager on water efficiency communication projects.
What you'll need:
* At least three years’ experience in journalism or public relations/communications, either agency or in-house.
* Experience in a water company is desirable but not required.
* Degree in a communication or PR-related discipline or relevant experience.
* Knowledge of stakeholder engagement, media, filming, video editing, and social media, with confidence in engaging diverse audiences.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various communication platforms.
* Full driving license.
We are committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring equal opportunities and fair treatment for all employees.
