About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a forward‑thinking, proactive and highly motivated Anaesthetic practitioner (Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner) to join our theatre team at Ashford and St. Peters NHS Foundation Trust.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert assistance to the anaesthetist in the perioperative environment and out of department such as A & E, MRI, and inter‑hospital transfers, ensuring all required equipment and drugs are checked and available.
* Function clinically within the Operating Department as part of the surgical team, including preparing the operating room, transferring and safely positioning patients.
* Adhere to local policies, guidelines and SOPs to maintain a high standard of quality care within the department.
* Communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with all levels of staff, patients and their relatives, taking into account impairments, levels of consciousness and language barriers.
Provide a safe, cost‑effective and efficient care for patients and ensuring their safety and well‑being throughout the perioperative period.
Qualifications and Attributes
* Excellent communication skills and a desire to learn.
* Passion to develop and improve, with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Previous theatre experience is welcome, as is experience from other specialities or those just starting an ODP career.
* Ability to work in a variety of settings as part of a team to provide safe care throughout the perioperative period.

As a team member, you will have a range of learning opportunities available. Starting with a rotation throughout the departments, you will develop your competencies within each speciality.
