Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our esteemed team as the Divisional Director of Nursing & Governance. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on healthcare delivery and patient well-being. Reporting to the Divisional Director of Operations, this senior leadership position involves working as part of the Divisional Triumvirate team.
The Medicine and Community Division covers the Emergency Department, Acute Medicine, Care of Older Adults, Specialist Medicine, Palliative Care, Stroke, and Adult Community Services.
As the Divisional Director of Nursing & Governance, you will collaborate closely with the Divisional Medical Director and Divisional Director of Operations. Together, you will form a cohesive team responsible for workforce management, service delivery, clinical quality and safety, financial control, and implementing corporate objectives and the Trust's strategy.

Main duties of the job
1. Operational Accountability: Collaborate with senior leaders to manage workforce, service delivery, quality, safety, and finances. Define divisional objectives aligned with corporate goals and address performance issues to ensure standards are met.
2. Nursing/Midwifery/Therapy Services: Oversee delivery and performance within these services, ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission standards and high standards of patient care.
3. Governance Leadership: Lead initiatives in infection control, safety, risk management, and incident management. Ensure action plans are completed and divisions learn from events to improve safety.
4. Collaborative Leadership: Serve on the Nursing Board, working with the Chief Nurse to develop standards that enhance patient care and experience. Lead specific nursing functions as assigned.
5. Corporate Roles: Undertake additional responsibilities as required by senior management.

Job Responsibilities
Accountability for quality and safety, maintaining professional standards per NMC Code, advising managers, resource optimization, monitoring care standards, implementing initiatives, providing leadership, developing advanced practice strategies, and informing senior leaders of safety issues.
Performance Management & Governance
Contribute to operational and strategic planning, participate in management boards, and jointly oversee patient safety, effectiveness, experience, and risk management, including investigations and action plans.
Person Specification
Essential: Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, proven organizational and resource management, experience with budgets, change management, and excellent communication skills. Personal qualities include motivation, drive, flexibility, and high work organization.
Additional Requirements
Must hold current UK professional registration. The role is subject to DBS checks and requires eligibility for Skilled Worker sponsorship if applicable.
