Join Our Team at Corserv Care as a Full Time Support Worker (Learning Disabilities and autism). NIGHT SHIFT POSITION.
We are hiring to 2 positions!
Salary: £12.63 per hour, guaranteed paid hours, plus benefits
Working Hours: 30 - 37.5 hours per week (flexible), working night shift 10:00pm - 08:00am.
Contract Type: Permanent

About the role:Do you want to help Adults with Learning & Physical Disabilities achieve the best outcomes possible? Are you capable of working on your own initiative as well as with a great team? Corserv Care are currently looking to recruit a support worker at their Short Breaks Service, The Bungalow in Penzance. In this key role, you'll provide high-quality care and support to individuals with learning disabilities and autism. Role Purpose: The role involves creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that promotes the well‑being, independence, and personal development of service users during their stay. You will support the Manager and Senior Support Worker to deliver a high standard of service and ensure continuity of service provided. You will be expected to work flexibly either independently or as part of a team.
What you'll be doing:
* Personal Care: Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility support, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
* Emotional Support: Offer emotional and psychological support, helping service users manage anxiety, stress, and other emotional challenges. Provide a calm and reassuring presence.
* Health Monitoring: Monitor and document the health and well‑being of service users, including administering medication, reporting any concerns to senior staff or healthcare professionals, and following care plans.
* Activity Planning: Develop and participate in tailored activities that promote social, physical, and cognitive engagement, adapting to the individual needs and preferences of each service user.
* Advocacy and Empowerment: Advocate for the rights and needs of service users, promoting their independence and encouraging them to make informed choices about their care and activities.
* Safety and Risk Management: Ensure a safe environment by adhering to all health and safety guidelines, conducting regular risk assessments, and implementing safeguarding procedures.
* Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with service users, their families, and other members of the care team, ensuring that all interactions are respectful and inclusive.
* Record Keeping: Keep accurate and up‑to‑date records of care provided, incidents, and any changes in the service user’s condition, in compliance with organisational policies and regulations.
* Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to deliver holistic care that meets the complex needs of service users.

* Ability to work flexibly supporting numerous people within the setting (Respite is transient and you would be supporting different people every day).
The following qualifications and experience are desirable:
* Experience in a respite care setting.
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or working towards.
* Care Certificate
* Understanding of safeguarding principles and health and safety regulations.
* Basic First Aid and Medication Administration training.
* Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism.
* Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) or similar approaches.
* Training in Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
