Qualified SENCO - Primary School
Part Time Position | 3 Days
We are seeking a committed, knowledgeable, and child‑centred Qualified SENCO to join a supportive and inclusive primary school setting. This role is ideal for an experienced SENCO or a skilled primary teacher who has completed (or is completing) the NASENCO qualification and is passionate about ensuring every child receives the support they need to succeed.
About the Role
As the school's SENCO, you will lead and oversee the provision for pupils with SEND across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. You will work closely with class teachers, teaching assistants, parents, and external agencies to ensure high‑quality support is delivered consistently throughout the school.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and lead SEND provision across the whole primary school
* Identify pupils with SEND and oversee assessment, monitoring, and interventions
* Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised support
* Support teaching staff in adapting lessons and delivering inclusive practice
* Lead SEND meetings and maintain strong communication with parents and carers
* Coordinate referrals to external agencies and maintain multi‑agency relationships
* Ensure accurate record‑keeping aligned with the SEND Code of Practice
* Provide training, guidance, and support to teachers and support staff
* Oversee provision for pupils with EHCPs and support plans
* Promote a positive, inclusive culture that meets the needs of all learners
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or be currently working towards it
* Recent, relevant experience working in a primary school setting
* Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and SEND Code of Practice
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
* Experience working collaboratively with families and external professionals
* A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable Experience
* Experience supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
* Strong understanding of common primary SEND needs (ASD, ADHD, SLCN, SEMH, dyslexia)
* Experience managing and guiding teaching assistants
* Knowledge of a range of primary‑focused intervention strategies
* Experience writing detailed reports and contributing to EHCP reviews
