The post holder will work as part of a multisite, community-based, multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive nursing interventions within the integrated sexual health services. They will work closely with staff across all disciplines to facilitate continuity of care, 7 days a week.
The post holder is responsible for assessing care needs and developing, implementing, and evaluating programmes of care on both a daily and ongoing basis. They will provide competent and efficient sexual health and contraceptive care and advice to promote health and wellbeing. Support will be provided to achieve enhanced clinical skills such as the Letter of Competence in Sub Dermal Implants and Intrauterine Techniques, enabling patients to access LARC services.
The post holder will actively participate in planning and providing training for staff within the department, working closely with the Charge Nurse to implement national and local strategies in sexual and reproductive health services. The role includes coordinating clinics and providing specific nurse-led clinics. They will offer leadership, management, and support to the cross-site nursing team in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility. The post holder will support service developments such as evening, weekend, and outreach services as required.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Observe Departmental and Trust policies, protocols, and working guidelines to ensure high standards of clinical nursing care.
2. Provide information, counseling, and health advice to patients with contraception and sexual health needs.
3. Maintain high standards of care for the prevention, treatment, and management of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
4. Manage asymptomatic and non-complex symptomatic patients independently within the clinic and outreach settings.
5. Examine patients and perform specific techniques as necessary, e.g., venepuncture, speculum insertion, proctoscope insertion, and bimanual examination.
6. Provide nurse-led clinics requiring skills within advanced practice guidelines and patient group directions.
7. Process specimens and samples to achieve investigation outcomes and diagnoses per BASHH and FSRH standards.
8. Deliver clinical skills relevant to reproductive health, such as initiating all methods of hormonal contraception, including sub-dermal implants and intrauterine devices.
9. Stay updated on current issues in sexual health and contraception and develop clinical competence.
10. Exercise clinical judgment in all aspects of care.
