The primary team at Teaching Personnel are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the heart of Bournemouth. They are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about education to support children’s learning and well-being across the school. You will work closely with class teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences, support pupils both in and out of the classroom, and help create a positive and engaging school environment for all children. Key Responsibilities Support pupils across Key Stage 1 during lessons, small group activities and 1:1 interventions Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom displays Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a calm, purposeful learning environment Provide targeted support to children with a range of needs, including those requiring additional academic or emotional support Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes and school outings Work collaboratively with teaching staff to monitor and record pupil progress Contribute to the wider life of the school, including supporting whole-school events and enrichment activities Essential: Experience working with or supporting children in an educational setting A calm, positive, and flexible approach to working with children and staff Strong communication and interpersonal skills A genuine interest in children’s learning and development Good basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths) Desirable: A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3) Experience supporting pupils with SEND Familiarity with phonics (e.g., Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.) and key primary curriculum areas All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
