Lead the development of future strategy plans to improve efficiency, cost and quality improvement opportunities for the area. Play a critical role in the South Business unit structure, champion continuous improvement and self-directed teams. Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on… -Champion Health, Safety and Environment within the machine shop, actively contribute to safety improvements & promote a zero-accident culture. -Set and maintain high standards and leading continuous improvement activities, using 5S and lean manufacturing principles. -Lead the interactions and develop performance agreements with other production managers/support functions including -Production Engineering, Planning, Maintenance, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) & Human Resources (HR) to deliver high quality output in own area of responsibility and across UK Supply. -Provide strong leadership to drive down scrap and poor-quality outflow to customers. -Deploy self-directed teams & visual management across the machine shop. -Manage the production coordinators and team to ensure resources are deployed effectively. -Partner with the business unit leader to forward plan, and build budgets with a key focus on production, personnel and output efficiency opportunities. -Develop and own reports and management information as required to the management teams against key performance measures. -Delivery of effective communication across the machine shop areas with special focus on the desk free population -Be an exemplar for our core values and set clear expectations of conduct throughout the machine shop team -Review the productivity of team members through effective performance management including appraisals and managing poor performance. -Utilise the skill sets and develop the capability of the team. Identify training needs and ensure this training plan is developed to meet the needs of the business, including succession planning. -To manage the health and safety and wellbeing of the team. -Manage & monitor Health, Safety and Environment measures including carrying out site H&S tours and audits as required.
