Engineering Lecturer. Location: Carlisle. Contract: Bank / Temporary / Expression of Interest. Hours: Flexible. Employer: The Supply Register (on behalf of Carlisle College).
The Role
As an Engineering Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and practical lessons, supporting learners across a range of engineering disciplines to develop the skills and knowledge required for further study or careers in the sector.
Key responsibilities
* Delivering Engineering lessons (BTEC / City & Guilds / NVQ)
* Teaching across areas such as Mechanical, Electrical, or General Engineering
* Supporting practical workshop sessions and demonstrations
* Preparing learners for assessments, coursework, and exams
* Monitoring learner progress and providing constructive feedback
* Promoting health & safety within workshop environments
* Creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Industry experience within Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related)
* Relevant engineering qualification (Level 3 or above)
* Teaching experience or willingness to move into education
* Strong practical and communication skills
* Ability to engage and support post-16 learners
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable:
* Teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DET)
* Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, or equivalent)
* Experience delivering BTEC / City & Guilds / NVQ qualifications
* Previous experience within Further Education
