Our principal consultant Robin Thomas is keen to talk with time served craft apprentices and trained machine shop engineers about an exciting opportunity to join a UK-based manufacturer of precision-engineered pumps and associated systems, serving customers worldwide.
As a Service Centre Machinist, you'll support the in-house capabilities for pump & valve refurbishments. Operating various manual machines including lathe and vertical boring machines, the Service Centre Machinist will produce parts from drawings and samples, as well as repairing parts where required.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Turning the majority of machining on manual centre lathe to produce shafts, sleeves, spacers, etc.
* Machining cast parts to drawings such as impellers, bearing housings, and casings
* General milling including keyways and slots
* Removing and replacing case wear rings and bushes
* Liaising with workshop personnel at all levels
Skills & Experience
* Time served craft apprentice or trained machine shop engineer using conventional lathes, drills, mills, etc.
* Confidence in using measuring equipment and reading engineering drawings
* Relevant qualification to NVQ Level 3
* Service knowledge and understanding of rotating equipment
* Good problem-solving skills and high attention to detail
