GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work in schools in Hucknall from September 2025. This role is ideal for individuals with experience working with pupils who have special educational needs and who are ready to contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment. About the Role: As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will provide 1:1 or small group support to students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties. Working under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO, you will help to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), support behaviour strategies, and enable students to access the curriculum in a way that suits their individual learning style. Key Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant: Provide dedicated support to students with SEN, both in-class and during interventions Implement tailored strategies outlined in EHCPs and IEPs Help promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation techniques Foster an inclusive and nurturing environment that enables learning Work closely with teaching staff and external specialists to support learning outcomes Record progress and contribute to student reviews Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources Promote independence and confidence in students with SEN Communicate effectively with parents and carers when required Uphold the school’s values and safeguarding responsibilities at all times SEN TA Requirements: Experience supporting children or young people with SEN as a SEN Teaching Assistant or similar is essential Knowledge of common SEN needs such as ASD, ADHD, and SEMH Understanding of how to implement EHCPs and IEPs effectively A calm, patient, and empathetic manner Strong teamwork and communication skills A degree in Psychology, SEND, Counselling or a similar field CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a related qualification is desirable but not essential Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply) Why Join GSL Education?
