We are looking for an exceptional psychological professions leader to join Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as Head of Psychological Professions for our Inpatient and Crisis Services (IPCS) Directorate. This is a pivotal strategic role for a senior consultant psychologist who is passionate about driving high-quality, safe and innovative psychological care for adults with complex mental health needs. You will play an essential role in transforming provision for adults with serious mental health problems and ensuring Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust delivers high-quality care within available resources. This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county, including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate how they will manage these travel requirements.
Responsibilities
The post holder will act as the Consultant Lead Psychologist for IPCS, providing expert leadership, oversight and professional direction for the full range of psychological provision across the Directorate. You will ensure services are integrated, person-centred and capable of meeting the needs of people with serious mental health difficulties, delivering the right care in the right place. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will report to the Divisional Director and contribute to the wider strategic development of the Directorate. You will work closely with the Clinical Director, Chief Psychological Professions Officer, and other professional leads to ensure strong clinical and professional governance for psychologists and psychological therapists across adult mental health services.
Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience (Essential)
* Registered and accredited with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist and accreditable with the British Psychological Society (BPS)
* Post Graduate Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) and clinical supervision training for psychology trainees
* Evidence of post‑doctoral specialist training in at least two areas of psychological practice directly related to the clinical requirements for this post
* Management qualification or equivalent level of substantial experience/training in leading services and successfully managing or contributing to major change programmes
Skills and Aptitude (Essential)
* Skilled in identifying and differentiating between a wide range of diagnoses
