Job Description

Please note, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship and we can only consider applicants with existing right to work in the UK.
Are you passionate about making communities safer? Do you thrive in partnership environments and want to make a real difference in people’s lives? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
We are looking for a Senior Community Connections Officer (Safer Communities) to join our dynamic Community Safety Team. This is an exciting operational role working closely with the police and other partners to prevent and tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB), crime, and disorder across Plymouth.
About The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing ASB and community safety casework within a specific sector of the city. This includes:
* Progressing casework from early intervention through to enforcement, including court action where necessary
* Supporting victims and engaging with individuals causing anti-social behaviour
* Working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies
* Engaging with communities and organising events, including during ASB Awareness Week
* Becoming a First Responder for cases of modern slavery, including making referrals into the National Referral Mechanism (NRM)
* Contributing to wider community safety initiatives and campaigns
* Co-locating in a police station 3 days a week, Ballard House 1 day a week, and flexibility to work from home on the 5th day
About You
This role could suit someone looking to enter the field of community safety, provided they bring strong core competencies and transferable skills. While prior experience is desirable, some understanding of community safety issues is essential, and full training will be provided to support development in the role. The ideal candidate will have:
* Some experience or knowledge of community safety, ASB, or related fields
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A collaborative approach to partnership working
* Resilience, self-motivation, and a proactive attitude
* Ability to work independently and travel across the city
You’ll be supported by experienced colleagues and managers, especially with complex cases, and will be part of a team that values early intervention and prevention.
Requirements
* Ability to travel independently across Plymouth
* Basic DBS check and police vetting clearance
* Willingness to work flexibly across locations
We are a flexible employer and provide a variety of working arrangements tailored to the needs of each role.
For further information about the role, please contact Steve Foale (Technical Lead) – Steve.Foale@plymouth.gov.uk or 01752 306891.
Closing Date: Sunday 04 January 2026
