Purpose of the Role

As an NMC Senior Product Engineer within the Product Ownership & Validation function at Agratas, you will be responsible for driving the engineering development and readiness of NMC battery cells in support of customer and Agratas requirements. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including program management team, design, manufacturing, engineering quality, supplier quality, and supply chain—to ensure product designs meet stringent quality, cost, and delivery targets.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and expanding engineering team within the Product Ownership & Validation Department. You will play a vital role in driving innovation within battery cell engineering, helping Agratas maintain its competitive edge in the industry.

The position is based in Coventry with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibility Areas

Ensure product designs align with GME tooling, process flow, equipment capability, and assembly methods by leading the development of assembly drawings for NMC battery cells and subassemblies. In this role, you will provide technical guidance to CAD engineers, ensuring all drawings comply with internal standards, accurately apply GD&T, and fully support Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME) production requirements.
Managing the Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM), ensuring its accurate structure in terms of CAD tree, weight, quantity, integrity, and traceability are maintained throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Ensure integration and alignment across Supply Chain Engineers, Requirement Management Engineer, and CAD Engineers to maintain design intent, timing, and cross-functional compatibility throughout the development cycle.
Support APQP deliverables and prepare PPAP documentation and submissions in accordance with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.
Develop and manage detailed deliverable plans for product development to ensure timely and coordinated execution.
Involve in identifying and addressing product issues using 8D problem-solving methodology to ensure root causes are found and corrective actions implemented, with prevention of recurrence coordinated alongside the Product Excellence team.

Essential

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electrochemical, or a related Engineering field.
In-depth knowledge of nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery technology and its applications.
Solid understanding of critical failure mode and common technical challenges associated with NMC battery cells
Proficient in managing and maintaining Engineering BOMs (EBOMs) in PLM (Teamcenter, etc)
Experience in battery cell validation, integration, or product development.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate ideas across technical and commercial domains.
Strong expertise in GD&T, assembly-level design validation, and stack-up analysis
Strong problem-solving skills utilizing Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement and defect reduction.

Desired

Experience in a technical role within a tier 1 battery manufacturer
Understanding and use of PLM systems for engineering delivery
Understanding of quality standards and regulatory compliance requirements applicable to battery manufacturing equipment.
Experience managing confidential technical information and intellectual property during supplier collaborations and contractual negotiations.
