We are a dynamic and growing civil engineering company specialising in highways maintenance, infrastructure projects, and street lighting services. With a strong track record of delivering high-quality services to local authorities and private clients, we are seeking a Senior Bid Writer to lead and enhance our bidding function.


Role and responsibilities

* Lead the development of bid strategies and win themes in collaboration with senior stakeholders.
* Write, edit, and manage the production of persuasive and technically accurate bid content.
* Oversee the bid pipeline and coordinate resources to meet submission deadlines.
* Engage with operational, commercial, and technical teams to gather input and ensure bid accuracy.
* Review and improve existing bid content and maintain a comprehensive bid library.
* Analyse client requirements and tender documents to ensure compliance and competitiveness.
* Mentor junior bid writers and contribute to continuous improvement of bid processes.
* Support post-tender activities including presentations, clarifications, and feedback reviews.


Who we are looking for

* Minimum 5 years’ experience in bid writing, preferably within civil engineering, highways, or infrastructure sectors.
* Strong understanding of public sector procurement and frameworks (e.g., NEC, JCT).
* Exceptional written communication and editing skills.
* Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
* Commercially astute with a strategic mindset.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and bid management software.
* APMP or equivalent bid/proposal management certification.
* Experience working with local authorities and Tier 1 contractors.
* Familiarity with street lighting and highways maintenance terminology.
