Job Title: English Teacher
Location: Smallbrook School, Shrewsbury, SY4 3HE
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 8.45am - 4.30pm
Salary: Up to £42,000.00 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: March 2026

About the Role
As Smallbrook School grows, we are delighted to invite a passionate, creative English Teacher to join our welcoming and ambitious school community in Shrewsbury. This role focuses on delivering engaging and imaginative English lessons that spark curiosity, build confidence, and unlock learners’ potential. You will help shape the English curriculum and contribute to driving excellence across the school. You will work in a collaborative team to raise aspirations and support continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Main Responsibilities
* Deliver a broad, balanced, and inspiring English curriculum aligned with the school’s vision and values.
* Provide leadership and direction within the English subject area, supporting its ongoing growth and success.
* Motivate and challenge students to achieve their full potential in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Share best practice and contribute to the professional development of colleagues, strengthening teaching and learning across the school.
* Monitor and support students’ academic progress and personal development within the subject area.
* Play an active role within the curriculum team, promoting collaboration, innovation, and high standards.
What We’re Looking For
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
* Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English
* The ability to inspire, engage, and motivate learners of all abilities
* A commitment to raising achievement and creating meaningful learning experiences
* Experience in subject leadership or curriculum development is desirable, but not essential
* Full UK Driving Licence
