Protocol is working closely with an FE college based in Lincolnshire to help recruit for motivated and enthusiastic 2nd Line ICT Support Technician. We are looking for experienced candidates who will will provide second line ICT support, working with members of the ICT Department and its users, ensuring that business and operational requirements are always met. This will include face-to-face support, roll out of new hardware and managing some systems including exams. At times the role may also aid with software development projects supporting the ICT Developer, Business Intelligence, and the Digital Team. The institution is committed to providing a broad range of courses for all learners and the client is looking to grow the team.
The role:
1. Full-time/permanent role, Mon-Fri, 37hrs, some evening work required, starting asap, up to £32,567 per year plus benefits.
2. Provide first and second line technical support to Boston College students and staff.
3. Provide first and second line support for computer applications and operating systems (Windows and Apple Mac) used by the college.
4. Respond to Boston College IT Helpdesk where tickets have been escalated by first line support, including recording and monitoring the progress of all incidents and requests. Ensuring all calls and tickets are effectively managed and owned through resolution and closure.
5. Accountable for achieving 2nd level fix rate in accordance with departmental KPIs by developing and maintaining a good overall knowledge of the IT Services and Infrastructure supported by them.
6. Contribute innovative ideas for use of applications.
7. Maintain the running of PCs software environments by diagnosing and fixing faults on the various software packages and operating systems used on College PCs.
8. Maintain the running of PCs hardware, which includes diagnosis and repair of hardware faults and damaged equipment.
9. Maintain the running of the College network servers which consists of aiding the network technician in installing software, managing the Network Operating System, diagnosing and fixing faults and backing up servers.
10. Maintain the College network infrastructure, which consists of aiding the network technician in the maintenance and repair of hubs, switches and routers.
11. Provide guidance and support to students and staff in the process of logging-in, using e-mail, and use of applications packages.
12. Help to keep computer rooms tidy and within health and safety guidelines, which includes cleaning of computer equipment and supply of printer paper and cartridges.
13. Maintain an inventory of computer equipment within the College/CSU help the network technician to maintain the equipment returns database.
14. Create, maintain and manage login accounts for staff and students
15. Take a lead in maintaining the college exams software and infrastructure and being the first point of contact
16. Work with the ICT Technician (AV) in support of AV services when required.
17. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of Boston College ICT policies and procedures
18. Keep themselves up to date with software releases, technology.
19. Receipt goods received and ensure they are accurately recorded within the IT asset database. Manage and track the return of goods should a fault occur.
Undertake an additional role of responsibility as defined by the ICT Manager.
The person:
We are therefore seeking passionate individuals with a background in ICT & Programming with relevant academic qualifications.

21. Relevant FE or industry experience.
22. Knowledge of programming languages such as VB, VB.NET, HTML or C#.
23. Level 2 Maths & English.
