Purchase Ledger Team Leader
Salary: £37,000 - £40,000
Location: North Bristol
Contract: Full-time, Hybrid
We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Purchase Ledger Team Leader to join a busy finance department. In this key role, you will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring smooth, accurate, and timely processing across the team. You’ll lead a motivated group of purchase ledger professionals, drive operational improvements, and work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver an exceptional service.
What You’ll Be Doing
Team Leadership
* Lead, support, and develop the PL team, promoting a high‑performance, collaborative culture.
* Oversee workloads and ensure SLAs and deadlines are consistently met.
Operational Excellence
* Manage high volumes of invoices and PL mailbox activity, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
* Monitor KPIs and champion best practices across the P2P process.
Stakeholder Collaboration
* Work closely with operational teams, suppliers, and internal departments to resolve queries and maintain strong working relationships.
* Ensure all activity adheres to strict internal controls and audit requirements.
Continuous Improvement
* Support the wider finance team and shared serivce centre with system changes and upgrades.
* Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the ledger function.
What We’re Looking For
Experience
* Proven background leading or supervising teams within a finance transactional services environment.
Skills
* Excellent numeracy and communication skills.
* Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Confident using MS Office, inc. advanced Excel.
Qualifications
* A-Levels plus GCSEs in Maths & English (C or above).
* AAT or a relevant degree is desirable but not essential.
