About the role

We are looking to recruit an experienced and outstanding teacher to join our Academy as Head of RE to start ASAP or January 2026. We are looking for a teacher who can inspire our students to learn with enthusiasm and to enjoy the experiences a school can bring.

As the Head of RE, you will play a pivotal role in developing and leading the RE curriculum within our academy. Working collaboratively with your direct team and SLT, you will use your leadership skills to deliver creative and vibrant lessons which inspire and motivate all students to excel. This post will give you the opportunity to shape the future of RE at Thornhill Community Academy, driving innovation and fostering a culture of excellence.

RE is a strong, well-respected subject, which is an integral part of our aspiration to ensure all students have the knowledge and understanding required, to make sense of a complex and diverse world. This is a real opportunity for an inspirational RE teacher to make their first step into leadership, or a current Head of Faculty to develop further with the support of our SLT.

To be successful, you will:

* Be educated to degree level with QTS in their subject
* Have successful experience in teaching RE at GCSE
* Have experience of implementing departmental school strategies
* Be an effective classroom practitioner with a proven track record of inspiring and motivating students
* Be able to plan for success and evaluate progress and outcomes
* Be able to coach, inspire and enthuse students effectively
* Be committed to our ethos that all students can achieve at Thornhill Community Academy
* Have great references demonstrating they are a suitable candidate, safe to work with children.

To apply, please complete an application form. CVs will not be accepted.

Closing date: 10.00am on Friday 26th September 2025

Share MAT is committed to the Equalities Act 2010 and also to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people, by adhering to the "Keeping Children Safe in Education" guidance. All staff and volunteers are regularly trained regarding our expectations in keeping our students safe. An enhanced DBS is required for every post. An online search will be undertaken for all shortlisted candidates.

The Trust

SHARE Multi Academy Trust currently consists of Shelley College, Thornhill Community Academy, Royds Hall Academy, Whitcliffe Mount Academy, Todmorden High School, Heaton Avenue Primary School, Millbridge Primary School, Luck Lane Primary School, Woodside Green Primary School and Calderdale and Kirklees Teaching School Hub.

Our aims

Our overarching aim is to help more pupils, particularly the disadvantaged, achieve highly. Achievement includes academic success and the development of personal qualities and knowledge to lead happy, healthy and successful lives.

Our values

We believe education is all about people. Our success is measured in how we help our children and young people achieve. We can only achieve this success by employing talented, committed staff and working in partnership with parents. In doing so, we will benefit our communities. We have a distinctive way of interpreting this belief. We summarise it as:

"Valuing People, Supporting Personal Best."

This means we seek for every one of our students and members of staff, to enjoy coming to our schools and for all of us to try our very best in everything we do. We help everybody gain the knowledge, skills and habits that can lead to a happy and successful life, both now and in the future. We believe that helping people feel valued increases the chances of them achieving their personal best, which is the highest standard we can expect anybody to achieve.
