We’re looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering team in London; either Croydon (preferred) or Aldgate.

You will be joining an established team of Ground Engineers within the South‑East region, based in the AECOM Croydon (preferable) or Aldgate Office, and will work closely with colleagues from across the UK & Ireland.
Job Duties include:
* Delivery: Manage tasks and assist the team with project delivery, ensuring technical quality, adherence to budget and programme.
* Provide Expertise: Contribute to team/client technical review meetings, own decisions, and propose alternative ideas and concepts.
* Commercial: Maintain high levels of client satisfaction, respond to client requirements, and support the development of fee proposals and bids for internal and external clients.
* Mentoring: Own personal and professional development and on‑the‑job mentoring of junior staff.
The position suits a candidate who has experience in applying geotechnical design, can work independently, support junior team members, manage budget/programme deliverables, and provide the geotechnical input to projects from desk study/feasibility through to ground investigation, interpretation, final design, specifications, interpretive reports, construction drawings, and design reports.

Qualifications
* BEng / MEng in Civil Engineering or BSc and/or MSc in Geotechnical Engineering.
* Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) status is desirable, or you have a plan and are on track to achieve this.
* Good knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
* Demonstrable understanding of current design codes, standards, and best practices in geotechnical design, with an openness to new methods and innovations.
* Ability to collaborate closely in project delivery, win projects, and maintain high levels of client satisfaction.
* Knowledge of typical ground conditions interpretation/parametric assessment and correlation methods applicable to common geotechnical design problems.
* Familiarity with data management software gINT, Open Ground is advantageous.
* Experience in geotechnical design (earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, slope stabilisation) with strong analytical skills and use of relevant design software Slope/W, Wallap.
* Familiarity with production of geotechnical analysis and design packages, including drawings, risk assessments, specifications and design reports.
* Application of CDM Regulations / Safety in Design in a design and ground investigation environment.
* Experience with standards and processes in specialised fields (e.g., highways, railways) is desirable.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear technical reports and documents.
* Experience in the design, specification and management of ground investigation (remotely and in the field).
* Clean driving licence.
* Candidates should be willing to travel throughout the UK.
