Overview
A caring and supportive personal assistant is required for a happy and active 6-year-old boy living in the Torpoint area. He is non-verbal and has ASD, Pica and learning difficulties. He would like someone who can build a positive relationship with him and provide 1:1 support.
He would like support to develop his social skills and confidence out in the community. He loves being outdoors and enjoys parks, exploring woods, visits to the beach, and exploratory play with moving toys. Your support will help him explore the local area, enjoy more social opportunities, and establish an engaging routine, particularly during weekends and school holidays. This is a rewarding opportunity to help a young person grow and achieve greater independence while making a positive impact on their life.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support to a 6-year-old boy, building a positive, trusting relationship.
* Support him to develop social skills and confidence during community activities and outings.
* Promote outdoor play and exploration (parks, woods, beach, exploratory activities with moving toys).
* Assist in establishing and maintaining a engaging routine, especially on weekends and during school holidays.
* Ensure the child’s safety and well-being during outings and activities.
Details
Role is part-time with 8 hours per week available, with flexibility. Weekend and school holiday availability is required. Car driver is preferred but not essential.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience or knowledge of working with young people with SEND is essential.
* The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family and not by Cornwall Council.
* All offers of employment are subject to an enhanced DBS check; the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
