Sheffield’s Growth Plan and Transport Vision set out ouraspirations for an integrated, safe, reliable and low-carbontransport system, making our city easier to get around, betterconnected, accessible for vulnerable travellers and moresustainable. As the fourth largest city in England, we’re working
with our regional partners to deliver plans for tram renewal andexpansion, a franchised bus network from 2027, and our dynamicConnecting Sheffield programme is already underway, withspades in the ground on numerous projects.
You’ll lead our talented City Transport team in developing projectsand programmes that support Sheffield’s Green, Growing andGlobal agendas, that align with our climate change ambitionsand improve quality of life for all of Sheffield’s people. You’ll keepabreast of emerging approaches and best practice, influencingnot only what we do ourselves but also how we collaborate withpartners across the city, region and the wider North.
Working with the City Futures senior leadership team and othersenior colleagues across the council, you’ll be a visible andrespected contributor to the strategic conversation in transportforums. Candidates will be proven strategic transport professionalswith a strong track record in transport planning, project and policydevelopment and delivering strategic projects. A confident andinspiring manager and leader, with good political acumen, you’ll berelentlessly outcome-focused and have a robust ‘what works’ mindset.Excellent communication and partnership-building skills are essential,as is the ability to confidently manage teams through change.
