Overview
The role will require you to provide clinical expertise in relation to occupational health issues to support the delivery of a high‑standard service focused on prevention and effective attendance management. The post holder will support the day‑to‑day management of the Occupational Health service, providing support to junior clinical and administrative team members across our service on the Barnsley Hospital Foundation Trust site and Rotherham Hospital Foundation Trust site.
Responsibilities
* Deputise for the Lead Occupational Health and Wellbeing Specialist Nurse Practitioner
* Participate in the provision of a high‑quality Occupational Health and Wellbeing service to clients, including assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of Occupational Health needs, activities and standards
* Deliver specialist Occupational Health advice within the Trust and to external client groups as per agreed contracts and Service Level Agreements
* Promote Occupational Health and Wellbeing within the Trust and maintain good working relationships with all client groups
* Respond to professional developments in Occupational Health practice and Health and Safety legislation
* Develop policies to ensure legal requirements are communicated effectively to clients, minimising health and safety risks
* Provide clinical expertise and support the delivery of a high‑standard service with a clear focus on prevention and effective attendance management
* Support the day‑to‑day management of the Occupational Health service, providing support to junior clinical and administrative team members
Essential Qualifications
* Substantial Occupational Health experience at a specialist level within a large organisation with a proven track record of meeting local/national targets
* Experience of supervising and motivating staff
* Experience of gathering data and producing reports
* Knowledge of National Guidance/Health and Safety Policy and Occupational Health policy and procedure
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Occupational Health computer systems (e.g., OPAS / COHORT)
* RGN qualified or in possession of a diploma/degree in Occupational Health, or registered as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse with Specialist Practitioner status
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience of developing evidence‑based practice
* Willingness to undertake further training and development as identified in appraisal
* Experience of Occupational Health nursing in NHS
* First line management course
* Basic counselling course
* Mediation qualification
* NEBOSH qualification
* Car driver/owner
