Due to the scheduled retirement of one of our key figures, we have an opening for a Manufacturing Operations Manager.
Role Overview
This is a unique role, where you will be responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations while ensuring efficient workflow, quality control, and on‑time delivery of bespoke roofing and cladding components.
The successful candidate will lead production planning, manage workshop personnel, control job scheduling, and maintain high standards of health & safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet project deadlines.
* Allocate labour and machine resources efficiently across multiple bespoke orders.
* Monitor output, productivity, and workflow to minimise downtime.
* Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimise processes and reduce waste.
* Oversee stock control of raw materials and consumables.
* Manage the day‑to‑day running of the fabrication workshop.
* Issue drawings and work instructions to operatives.
* Ensure all works are completed in accordance with any relevant technical drawings and specifications.
* Maintain accurate job tracking and progress.
* Coordinate maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment.
* Ensure timely dispatch and delivery coordination.
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure products meet company quality standards and client specifications.
* Conduct regular quality checks throughout the production process.
* Maintain compliance with health & safety regulations.
* Promote and enforce safe systems of work.
* Supervise, motivate, and develop workshop personnel.
* Provide technical guidance and hands‑on support where required.
* Conduct performance reviews and manage training needs.
* Foster a positive and accountable team culture.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience (10 years +) in sheet metal manufacturing, roofing, cladding production or similar.
* Must have strong technical understanding of fabrication processes including folding, cutting, forming, and finishing/developing.
* Experience in production planning and workshop supervision.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
* Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
* Effective leadership and communication abilities.
* Working knowledge of health & safety regulations within a manufacturing environment.
