General Manager – Brookhouse Mill, Denbigh, LL16 4RD (opening early 2026)

Salary – OTE £65,000-70,000 per annum, plus 3-bed live-in accommodation.

Brookhouse Mill is a converted water mill, now a pub full of character and charm on the banks of the River Ystrad. The pub sits in the hamlet of Brookhouse, on the outskirts of the market town of Denbigh in the charming Vale of Clwyd, which borders the Clwydian Range. The pub was bought by Stange & Co earlier this year and we can't wait to get it back open and at the centre of the town's community once again. Our extensive refurbishment is now well underway, and we're now on the hunt for a GENERAL MANAGER to come on board and head up our latest addition.

Stange & Co run a carefully selected, well-invested group of pubs and inns in the North West and Wales. We are fourth generation family owned and run, so whilst tradition and heritage are important to us, we are always striving to be at the forefront of where food & hospitality is heading, so we can ensure a successful and well rewarded future for everyone.

You won't be a small cog in a huge machine, instead you'll very much be part of the family. We're all on first name terms, and often put the world to rights over a pint or two after a management meeting. We'll be right on hand to assist as and when you need us but we're happy for our managers to try out new things and put their stamp and style on a pub.

What we're looking for….

We're looking for a host to head up Brookhouse Mill and build an exciting, bustling and profitable pub. Ideally someone with plenty of management experience in the industry, an ability to get on with anyone and everyone and a real passion for food, drink and pubs. You'll have plenty of input into how the place is run, making the pub very much your own; deciding on menus, wines, beers and of course building your team. Alongside the reward and recognition of getting this right - you'll also have the challenge and responsibility of running your own business. So, tight control of gross margins, stocks and wage costs will be essential, as will compliance with food safety, licensing and employment legislation. Attention to detail and a solid work ethic are also going to be essential to succeed in the role.

Salary would be appropriate for the experience & expertise of the successful applicant plus a generous bonus scheme linked to the profitability of the pub. Typical for an experienced manager would be £46,500+ salary, with bonus scheme giving the potential to earn £65-70k. As part of your package quality three-bedroom accommodation at the pub is provided free of rent and bills (equivalent to £15-20k gross salary). You'll also receive an equal share of the tips and a generous contributory pension scheme is also in place.
