We are looking for a reliable and patient Personal Assistant to support a 13-year-old girl to safely access community and leisure activities.
The child has complex developmental needs including autism, learning disability, chromosome depletion, hypermobility, dyspraxia and dyslexia, and functions at a developmental age of approximately 3–4 years.
She has no sense of danger or stranger awareness and requires constant supervision when out in the community. Although she is aware of road safety, she does not apply this to herself. If distressed or hurt, she may attempt to run away.
Her behaviour can be unpredictable and at times aggressive when things do not go her way. She is a very literal thinker and needs clear communication, consistent boundaries, and calm support.

Support the child to safely access community and leisure activities
Provide constant supervision to ensure her safety, particularly around roads, strangers, and unfamiliar environments
Build a trusting relationship and take time to understand the child's triggers, warning signs, and calming strategies
Manage challenging and aggressive behaviour calmly, confidently, and safely
Support emotional regulation and help the child remain engaged in activities
Use clear, consistent, and literal communication
Maintain firm but fair boundaries
Encourage positive behaviour and participation in activities
Work in line with agreed behaviour support strategies and risk management plans
