Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team within the Fareham & Portchester PCN. Pharmacy technicians play an important role in complementing clinical pharmacists and other members of the PCN team as well as staff within each practice and external organisations. The purpose of the role is to improve patient care by implementing best practices and maximising prescribing safety. The post holder will help patients get the most from their medicines, improve repeat prescribing processes, lead and promote repeat dispensing/online ordering, and aim to reduce medicine waste, while assisting the four practices across the PCN with on-the-day queries. The post holder will also develop understanding of medicines optimisation throughout the practice teams and assist the PCN in achieving national requirements, NICE implementation and medicines optimisation initiatives. You will assist all four practices with their practice-based needs and inquiries for prescribing.

* Computer literate with the ability to use required GP clinical systems (desirable) and Microsoft Office packages (essential).
* Understand the aims of current healthcare policy and its implications for Clinical Pharmacy in General Practice pilot sites.
* Able to analyse and interpret prescribing data; attention to detail; able to work accurately and identify errors quickly.
* Manage allocated resources and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
* Think analytically, anticipate obstacles, and use analytical techniques to derive solutions.

About Us
Our PCN comprises four practices located in the Fareham area. The role is funded under the Additional Role Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). The post-holder will enrol on the CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway (PCPEP). The pharmacy team consists of one clinical pharmacist and three Pharmacy Technicians. We are looking to recruit 1 full-time Pharmacy Technician for FPPCN, with availability across the normal working week (Mon–Fri 08:30–16:30). Salary £28,000 to £29,400 pro rata. The Clinical Pharmacy in General Practice programme aims to transform care by delivering patient-centred, coordinated services. Pharmacy technicians will complement clinical pharmacists and other PCN staff, working with colleagues across the PCN and with external partners (community pharmacies, CCG, secondary care). Core responsibilities cover clinical, technical and administrative duties. The role supports medicines optimisation, repeat dispensing/online ordering, antimicrobial stewardship, and adherence to national prescribing policies and guidance within GP practices, care homes and primary care settings.
Key areas include clinical, technical and administrative duties, with a focus on medicines optimisation, patient safety, education and governance; participation in CPPE PCPEP training; and cross-site collaboration.

Person Specification
Qualifications And Experience
* GPhC professional registration; BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences; evidence of CPD; 2–3 years post-qualification experience in any pharmacy sector.
* Ability to influence and persuade partners and stakeholders about options, innovations, opportunities and challenges.
Knowledge And Understanding
* Advanced knowledge of general practice, evidence-based medicine, NHS targets, and management of patients in primary care; understanding of GP budget-management and funding systems; good clinical pharmacy knowledge; knowledge of pharmacy law and ethics.
Skills And Competencies
