To provide the professional engineering and technical interface with outside and third parties and manage the engineering and safety specification for the safe delivery of outside and third-party activities so that cost, time and quality objectives are met and delivered within corporate guidelines and engineering risk is identified and mitigated. To deliver competent engineering assurance in compliance with engineering standards and legislation.
You’ll be responsible for:
* Managing compliance with network rail engineering-driven safety requirements and provide technical advice, conditions and approvals consistent with network rail policies and standards on allocated schemes.
* Managing the mitigation of engineering and safety risks to the railway associated with proposed and real-time outside and third-party activities.
* Providing technical advice in respect of all engineering design, safe by design, technical specification and construction activities for safe delivery, including testing and commissioning and site supervision.
* Applying the concept of requirements engineering on applicable schemes, liaising with internal stakeholders and providing advice to the project interface lead.
* Assessing and reviewing all outside and third-party schemes for compliance with current legislation, including construction design management (CDM) Regulations.
* Reviewing engineering design and/or construction proposals and activities.
* Carrying out the duties of the designated project engineer (DPE) for specific projects
* Monitoring internal and external design/specialist consultants and contractors for outside and third-party schemes with respect of the competence of contractor’s design, construction and specialist workforce.
You’ll need to have:
* Strong technical qualifications (HNC/HND) with experience across engineering, construction and multi‑discipline projects.
* In‑depth knowledge of safety, CDM, risk management and assurance standards for asset protection.
* Proven experience managing third‑party activities and mitigating operational, design and site‑based risks.
* Expertise across key engineering disciplines, including telecoms, M&E, civils, structures, tunnelling and signalling.
