Child & Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist – Inpatient
Permanent | Full time – 10 sessions per week (+ on-calls). Chalkhill, Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath, West Sussex.

We are seeking a Child & Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Tier 4 inpatient service at Chalkhill, one of the country’s leading hospitals for children and young people with serious mental health needs and eating disorders. This role focuses on delivering safe, effective and compassionate care to young people aged 13–18, within a highly skilled and supportive multi-disciplinary team.
This post attracts an additional £45,000 payment over 3 years:
* £15,000 on appointment
* (pro rata for part-time roles)
What you’ll be doing
* Providing clinical leadership and psychiatric care for young people admitted to the inpatient unit
* Working closely with families, carers and community teams to support recovery and safe transitions
* Leading on formulation, care planning and risk management
* Teaching, supervising and supporting medical students, trainees and wider MDT colleagues
* Contributing to service development and transformation, including the development of neighbourhood mental health teams
What we’re looking for
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* Full GMC registration with licence to practise
* On GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of achieving CCT)
* Approved Clinician status (or ability to achieve within 3 months)
* Excellent knowledge and clinical skills in child & adolescent psychiatry
* Strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills
