We have an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and experienced Data and GIS Team Manager, to join us as a key member of the Data team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time, 12-Month Fixed Term Contract.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead a talented team of data analysts, engineers, and GIS specialists.
2. Deliver data and business intelligence projects as part of our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) programme.
3. Collaborate across council teams to shape data tools and ensure user needs are at the heart of our work.
4. Promote data-driven practices and support the adoption of open data principles.
5. Develop and deliver efficient, user-focused data and GIS services.
6. Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, partners, and suppliers.
7. Support the development and coordination of our data and GIS service roadmap.
8. Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in service delivery.
9. Act as a role model, coaching and supporting colleagues to foster a positive team culture
Candidate Requirements:
10. Degree-level education (or equivalent experience).
11. Knowledge of data analysis tools and methods (SQL Server, Power BI, Excel).
12. Experience managing complex data and GIS projects and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
13. Demonstrable experience in implementing, developing, and maintaining data and GIS solutions.
14. Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
15. Strong understanding of GDPR and data protection requirements.
16. Effective project management skills and ability to balance conflicting priorities.
17. Experience in budget management and supplier relationships.
