About The Role
The successful candidate will need to be able to support the delivery of a range of active sessions, such as coaching football-based activities on our soccer camps and in community settings. The main aspects on delivery will be on our Premier League programmes – primarily through the Premier League Primary Stars programme. Flexible working will be required for this role as well as regular evening and weekend work.
Premier League Primary Stars:
Working within schools to deliver sport and educational interventions as part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme. Supporting to develop and increase confidence, motivation and aspirations of young people. You will need to:
1. Deliver sessions empowering young people to overcome potential barriers to education.
2. Support the professional development of teaching staff, which builds skills and confidence to deliver high quality P.E.
3. Encourage, motivate and enthuse young people to participate, promoting positive attitudes towards education.
4. Work on own initiative to deliver high-quality school provision in a wide range of areas.: This includes Supporting Teachers in P.E., extra-curricular girls football sessions, programmes for positive change, targeted interventions and education activations that meet the needs of partner schools. Subjects will include English, Maths, PSHE and PE.
5. Collect, store & processes data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
6. Support the Schools Coordinator to ensure all KPIs are met to a high standard, while fostering positive relationships with schools and other external stakeholders.
7. Support with the planning and delivery of local tournaments, as well as attending regional and national events as required.
8. Be a positive role model and demonstrate the Premier League Primary Stars values: Be Fair, Be Connected, Be Inspiring and Be Ambitious.
In addition to the school delivery, there may be the opportunity and requirement to support on our Premier League Kicks programme.
Premier League Kicks uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people to reach their potential. We run sessions during the weekday evenings, providing young people with an opportunity for free sports sessions around Gloucestershire.
9. Build positive relations with diverse groups of young people from various backgrounds.
10. Plan and deliver age-appropriate sessions which focus on developing life skills, along with fundamental skills and techniques, promoting enjoyment for the game across the whole Kicks programme (including Disability and Girls sessions).
11. Maintain clear and consistent communication with participants, parents, community partners and other coaching staff.
Additional responsibilities of the role:
12. Lead coaching at Soccer Camps – you will be responsible for up to 20 young people: providing fun, inclusive, engaging, age-appropriate sessions throughout the day.
13. Support the running of our Youth Ambassador programme
14. To collect and process data for all programmes.
15. Working on match days.
Coaches will be accountable for the welfare of children and vulnerable adults under their supervision, in line with the Trust’s Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adult Policies. We also expect individuals to embrace equality, diversity, and inclusivity to facilitate a consistent, coordinated, and embedded approach to fairness and opportunity across the Trust. The role may require you to be available on matchdays, which are typically every other Saturday or a weekday evening.
About You
Essential Skills:
16. Knowledge of the FA Coaching Pathway and a minimum of UEFA C Licence/Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football (or equivalent NGB qualification in another sport)
17. Level 3/4 TA/HLTA qualification or willingness to work towards
18. Experience of working or volunteering within either school, club, or community sporting settings
19. Ability to plan, deliver & evaluate coaching sessions
20. Ability, or willingness to learn, to teach a variety of subject interventions (including English, Maths and PSHE)
21. Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
22. Be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
23. FA Safeguarding & Emergency aid/ BFAS Qualifications
24. Ability to work within a team effectively & efficiently and buy-in to the environmental ethos
25. Computer Literate
26. Ability to build relationships with young people
Desirable Skills:
27. Level 3 in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity AfPE qualification
28. Teaching qualifications or Qualified Teacher Status
29. Knowledge and experience of the school curriculum
30. D1 minibus licence
31. Experience of working in a charity or community organisation
32. Mentoring other staff through coaching/teaching
33. Knowledge and understanding of the charity, voluntary and community sector
34. A desire to pursue a career in the football industry and be a committed, enthusiastic, and highly motivated, showing a passion for promoting participation and love for the sport
35. Experience facilitating cup competitions, holiday camps, and school curriculum programmes
36. Working with socially excluded young people and vulnerable adults
37. Youth Work level 2
