An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, skilled and experienced Highways Works Supervisor to join the Highways Operations Team based at Tadman Street, Wakefield.

What I might be doing?
The postholder will be responsible for the supervision of frontline staff carrying out planned highway maintenance and emergency works in a co-ordinated, timely and efficient way, ensuring value for money and sustainability within Wakefield Council highway network.
To ensure delivery of agreed works programmes through both internal and external contractors in order to ensure as part of the Highways Network service team:-
1. Full consultation when appropriate with statutory undertakers, contractors, general public and other interested parties to ensure the minimum disruption caused by major projects and maintenance programmes/work that meets the statutory duties of the Traffic Management Act.
2. That services are provided to the highest quality/standard with due recognition of client and customer requirements, in accordance with the Councils Customer Care Policy.
3. Work is carried out safely in accordance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation in a wide and potentially high risk area within the Council
4. That works are based on effective asset management that are delivered on time and within budgets to ensure value for money
Essential requirements:
5. 4 GCSE or BTEC/ONC in relevant subject or extensive experience in a related work.
6. Expected to gain NVQ Level 4 in supervisory management or equivalent once in role.
7. Expected to gain Operator Licence Awareness training (OLAT) for road haulage and passenger operators once in role
8. City and guilds – NRASWA – Supervisor accreditation
9. Expected to gain LANTRA qualification M6 and M7 – Traffic Management Design and Supervision once in role.
10. Expected to gain qualification in IOSH – Managing Safely for Construction Managers once in role
11. Current full driving licence maximum 6 penalty points
