We are pleased to advertise the post of Clinical Fellow in Genomic Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our experienced team within the Clinical Genetics Department based at Chapel Allerton Hospital, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a one-year post, ideally starting on Monday 4th August 2025. The post is suitable for doctors with an interest in Clinical Genetics, especially those considering applying for a national training number in Clinical Genetics in the future. The advert will close on 30th April 2025; however, we may close earlier depending on the number of applicants. Interviews will be held on 07/05/2025 (via MS-Teams).
You will work and contribute to a busy Clinical Genetics department, participating in clinics, MDTs, acute ward referrals, and teaching. You will work in a team with training registrars and other clinical fellows, supported and supervised by the consultant team. Candidates wishing to work less than full-time are welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The clinical fellow, under supervision, will hold clinics, contribute to departmental and multidisciplinary team meetings, and deliver teaching sessions. The role includes supporting consultants in delivering excellent clinical care and may involve the following roles:
1. Support consultant clinical activity
2. Hold outpatient (Leeds and Hull), telephone, and video clinics
3. Participate in urgent work and ward referral rota
4. Write and sign-off clinic letters promptly
5. Attend departmental meetings
6. Support multidisciplinary team meetings
7. Undertake audit or quality improvement projects
8. Teach medical students and other medical personnel
9. Attend induction and comply with policies, including dress code, leave policies
You may have opportunities to deliver national presentations and contribute to publications.

This is a 1-year fixed-term post starting August 2025, suitable for doctors interested in Clinical Genetics or seeking experience in the field. The role includes holding clinics under supervision, attending departmental meetings, MDTs, and teaching sessions, with opportunities for research, presentations, and publications. Working hours are generally 9-5, Monday to Friday, with occasional early starts and potential travel to clinics in Hull and Bradford.
