Patient Services Advisor – NHS Lutterworth Medical Centre
Job Summary
We are looking for an additional Patient Services Advisor for a fixed‑term contract with the potential to continue. Working hours are 7:45 am – 6:45 pm each weekday, with shifts starting or ending as required. The role requires experience in a customer‑care environment, ideally medical, with energy, enthusiasm and a self‑motivated approach and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
* Welcoming patients
* Answering phone calls
* Registering patients
* Managing appointments
* Processing prescriptions
* Maintaining medical records
* Filing and scanning documents
* Providing information
* Maintaining confidentiality
* Dealing with difficult situations
* Working as part of a multidisciplinary team (GPs, nurses, health‑care assistants, admin staff)
Essential Skills
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Strong IT skills (generic)
* Clear, polite telephone manner
* Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
* Effective time‑management and organisational skills
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Good interpersonal and problem‑solving skills
* Ability to follow policy and procedure
Desirable Skills
* Experience with the SystmOne system
Qualifications
* GCSE English (C or above) and at least three other GCSEs
* Education to A‑level or equivalent is desirable, with relevant experience
* AMSPAR qualification (desirable)
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (desirable)
Other Requirements
* Flexibility to work outside core office hours
* Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
* Maintain confidentiality at all times
* Experience working with the general public and in an administrative role in a healthcare setting
Contract & Working Pattern
* Fixed‑term contract – 5 months
* Part‑time (working pattern to be agreed)
