Overview
Band 8a Point of Care Testing Lead (POCT) role at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. This role involves leading development and delivery of Point of Care Testing (POCT) services across King George Hospital, Queen’s Hospital and community hospital settings.
We are seeking applications from forward thinking, well-motivated, enthusiastic individuals to take a lead role in developing and delivering POCT services that are governance-led, patient-focused and aligned with national POCT strategies.
Responsibilities
* Deliver patient-focused, governance-led, operational planning, implementation of policies, procedures and guidance, ensuring a safe and high quality POCT service.
* Design, assess, implement and maintain POCT services outside traditional laboratory settings, embedding diagnostics in the patient pathway to support care decisions.
* Work as part of the team delivering POCT services and lead the POCT team based at Queen’s Hospital and King George Hospital, including HCPC registered staff and Associate practitioners.
* Provide an overarching role facilitating the comprehensive management, compliance monitoring and reporting on all POCT devices across the Trust in line with local and national accreditation, clinical governance and risk management requirements.
Location and teams
Hospitals involved include Queen’s Hospital, King George Hospital and associated community settings within Barking, Havering and Redbridge. The Trust serves residents of three diverse London boroughs and employs a large workforce across multiple sites.
Requirements / Qualifications
* HCPC registered professionals and relevant POCT experience or equivalent.
* Excellent communication and time management skills; systematic and flexible approach to work.
* Ability to work as part of a team in the delivery of Point of Care Testing services.
