SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) – Immediate Start Location: Dorset – Middle School Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time, Term-time Only A well-regarded Middle School in Dorset is looking to appoint a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children who benefit from consistent, personalised support throughout the school day. About the Role In this position, you will work closely with one pupil, supporting their learning, emotional well-being, and engagement in the classroom. You’ll collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to ensure the pupil has the tailored guidance and structure needed to progress both academically and socially. Your Key Duties Will Include: Providing focused 1:1 support for a pupil with specific learning and behavioural needs Helping adapt classroom tasks to match the pupil’s abilities and learning style Encouraging confidence, communication, and positive social interactions Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour Working effectively with teachers, SEN staff, and parents to maintain consistent support Following personalised plans and contributing to the delivery of EHCP targets Offering feedback to the teaching team and highlighting any concerns or changes in progress What We’re Looking For: Experience working with children with SEN (e.g., Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties) A calm, patient, and supportive approach Strong communication and relationship‑building skills Reliability, initiative, and the ability to take direction when needed Enthusiasm for helping children access learning and reach their potential All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
