Overview
A Vacancy at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. This Housekeeping/catering multiskilled role is working in a friendly hospital environment, helping with cleaning and catering duties within the hospital. This is a part-time role of 15.00 hours per week, Saturday - Sunday, 7.5 hours per day between 07:00 and 15:00, depending on shift. There may be a need to change this pattern to work flexibly within the team to cover the needs of the service. Additional hours are usually available to cover annual leave and sickness absence. Any additional weekend hours attract enhanced pay, and you will receive a generous annual leave allowance.
Applications from candidates requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible to apply for this position. The post is part of the Facilities & Estates Service that Dorset HealthCare may transfer to an NHS wholly owned subsidiary company, from November 2025 or later. The subsidiary will continue to offer NHS Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions, including NHS pensions, to staff who transfer as well as new staff it recruits itself.
Responsibilities
* Porter duties – Receiving deliveries and supporting unloading deliveries such as stores, linen and catering deliveries.
* Cleaning – Duties across the site, working to NHS cleaning standards, as the cleaning rota requires, with weekly duties supporting the delivery of items throughout the site.
* Catering – All onsite training will be provided; experience is preferred but not essential. Supporting the catering service within the main hospital kitchen.
* Driving – A full UK driving licence is essential as you will be required to use the hospital vehicle to deliver meals to a nearby site.
Training, support and requirements
* For all duties, full training, support and uniform will be provided, shadowing current experienced staff to enable the successful candidate to become confident in their role.
* Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
* Driving licence and DBS are essential requirements for the role.
