For the Children’s Support Worker role you MUST have 6 months experience in care, as well as Residential Childcare or Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma with Social Care Pathway or Caring for Children and Young People or Health & Social Care - (prior 2014). -
Level 3 Diploma/NVQ’s; (For RSW, T/L & Deputy roles)
The Children’s Support Workers role will involve working with some of the UKs most vulnerable children suffering from emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), you will need the ability to attend to their practical, physical and emotional needs and act as an appropriate role model and to work closely with them to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential.
1. To maintain a high quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of children and young people within the care of Inspirations.
2. To provide a caring, supportive and nurturing environment in which children/young people can feel secure and free from harm.
3. Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive regard.
4. Helping young people gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.
5. Ensuring that each young person’s care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs
6. Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home etc)
7. Establishing relationships which young people perceive to be positive, warm and rewarding
8. Providing advice, assistance and support on a 1:1 basis to enable young people to address past and present difficulties
9. Providing emotional support at times of difficulty or stress
Support Worker Requirements
10. Over the age of 21
11. Minimum of 6 month Children’s Residential Support worker experience
12. Caring and positive/ compassionate attitude
13. Committed to health & safety
14. Well-organized and reliable
15. Excellent communication and people skills
16. Strong ethics
