Assistant Accountant

We’re supporting a well-established construction and engineering business based near West Malling who are looking to add an Assistant Accountant to their growing finance team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with solid transactional experience who’s ready to take on more responsibility across month-end, project finance and wider reporting.
As Assistant Accountant you will be responsible for
The Role
* Handling purchase ledger and sales ledger processing
* Supplier statement reconciliations and resolving invoice queries
* Preparing weekly payment runs and maintaining accurate project cost records
* Bank reconciliations, credit card and expenses reconciliations
* Supporting month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and WIP
* Assisting with internal reporting and audit preparation
* Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors
* Supporting CIS checks and subcontractor compliance where required
What We're Looking For
* Experience in a finance or accounts role (construction experience helpful but not essential)
* Good understanding of transactional finance and month-end processes
* Strong Excel ability and good systems knowledge
* Confident communicator, organised, and detail-driven
* Studying AAT or keen to progress your accounting qualifications
