Job overview
We are looking for a highly motivated Band 6 Charge Nurse to join our Inpatient Mental Health Unit at Longreach House. Perran Ward is an adult acute mental health unit serving a diverse caseload. The role involves providing high-quality clinical leadership to the inpatient multidisciplinary team, deputising for the ward manager, and overseeing day-to-day ward operations. The appointee will work rotating shifts including weekends and bank holidays. Compliance with Nursing and Midwifery Council standards is required.
A Band 5 to Band 6 developmental role will also be considered.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care programmes. May be required to teach other nursing and non-nursing staff.
* Provide designated named nurse responsibility for a number of patients.
* Provide leadership, supervision and support to junior staff (qualified and unqualified) in the absence of the Clinical Team Leader and Unit Manager. Ensure efficient and effective use of resources to deliver high-quality care.

* Professional qualification and registration - NMC
* Experience of working with people with complex and challenging needs
Skills and Aptitude
* Up-to-date clinical skills in providing mental health care to patients in hospital
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
