This candidate will support the development and delivery of Royal Holloway Students’ Union’s brand and identity. Working closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager and the wider team to deliver highly-engaging design concepts along with an engaging online presence that keeps members up to date with the work of the Students’ Union. Be responsible for strengthening our brand identity, proposition, increasing engagement, and supporting the continued growth of the Union.
Responsibilities:
Design
* Work as part of the Marketing & Communications team, ensuring the creation of graphics and video content is innovative, timely and focused on our members.
* Work with a range of design mediums to achieve results including graphic design, photography, illustration, animation, and video footage.
* Ensure the latest design trends, techniques, and innovations are implemented into daily practice across the team.
* Work with the Marketing & Communications team to create design briefs that match brand and campaign requirements with a high-quality user experience.
* Proactively manage the design request cycle from conception to delivery.
* Provide advice and guidance to staff and officers regarding all aspects of design and print production
* Liaise with suppliers and relevant stakeholders regarding production timelines and costings of design materials.
* Act as the key contact with suppliers and relevant stakeholders regarding production timelines and costings of design materials.
Brand Oversight
* Act as a guardian of the Union’s core and sub brands, ensuring they are consistently utilised across all design work.
* Focus on user experience to inform data-driven decision-making.
* Contribute to organisation-wide campaigns by providing new, innovative and creative solutions for marketing them to our members.
* Ensure all media channels throughout the organisation are kept up to date with relevant design work (e.g., Facebook cover photos, digital screens, poster sites, etc.).
Website
* Act as a key contact for the organisation with any website requirements.
* Support the marketing team with the creation of wireframes and templates for the RHSU website and various microsites.
* Work with student staff within the team to create design briefs that match brand and campaign requirements with a high-quality user experience.
* Support the Marketing & Communications team with website updates through our content management system.
* Ensure the functionality and features of the website meet the changing needs of students, staff, and external stakeholders.
* Work closely with staff and students to incorporate feedback and comments about our website and systems, fostering a culture of ongoing improvement
Qualifications:
* Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and Premiere Pro.
* Previous industry or freelance experience as a graphic designer
* Experience of working across brand presence of a project using a multitude of digital and print mediums
* Experience building and maintaining accessible, engaging and responsive webpages (desirable, but not essential)
