Cornerstone Children’s Homes are looking for a Residential Care Worker for our home in Stockport. We are an established therapeutic children's service with an excellent reputation for providing high-quality care to males aged between 10 and 17 years old with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Position: Residential Care Worker (No sleep-in's required)
Position Overview:
* Permanent - full time
* Hours: 40 hours per week.
* Monday - Sunday. To work the rota as timetabled.
* Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
* Salary: £21,798.00-£22,505.00 per year
* Schedule: Day shift
* Experience: working within a children's home: 1 year (preferred)
* Shift availability: Day shift (required)
Job Role:
* To work therapeutically with vulnerable, challenging young people by supporting them practically and emotionally and to help them work towards agreed plans for their future
* To be a positive role model, to include high standards of personal presentation for young people.
* To encourage young people to develop meaningful relationships and attachments in line with their individual care plan.
* To complete detailed computer records, write reports and assist with the general upkeep of the home.
Residential Care Worker:
Ideally the successful applicant will have a background in looking after vulnerable young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in a therapeutic environment; however, opportunities exist for candidates with a desire to develop their own skills and understanding of working with young people and 'get into' this line of work.
* To hold, or be willing to work towards, a Level 3 Diploma Residential Childcare / NVQ Children and Young Peoples Workforce.
* Ability to work with young people from all backgrounds.
* Ability to cope with and respond to challenging behaviour in a constructive way.
* Good communication skills.
* Able to work within a team.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure (or be checked against the update service) as part of the vetting and barring process.
