The Advert Wording
We are looking for a flexible, strategic, and skilled Project Manager to help implement a varied range of corporate projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team within the corporate centre of the council – working across all services to deliver projects and programmes that help improve the way in which the council carries out and manages its corporate business.
The Role and the Team
The Corporate Planning and Coordination Team within the Policy, Partnerships and Corporate Planning Service, works closely with elected members and senior officers to develop and manage priority cross-directorate programmes and projects, and to develop corporate strategy. The team helps to implement processes which manage the interdependencies between corporate strategy, the council’s budget, service planning, and performance monitoring. The team also supports Executive Directors and Senior Leadership Teams to coordinate and engage consistently with corporate asks and with planning and decision making. We also deliver corporate events and strategically coordinate an external funding and resources function across the council.
The role will require involvement across the whole range of activities the team is involved in, and more broadly across the wider Policy, Partnerships and Corporate Planning Service. The projects will be very varied, but the overall purpose of the role is to help develop and deliver projects as required by the council’s Executive, and to support the Corporate Planning and Coordination Manager.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an individual not only with a strong background in delivering projects, but also with experience of working in a strategic, corporate environment, ideally within a public sector setting. To be successful in this role, you will need to be proactive, able to work at pace, an expert planner, good at building relationships and driven by ‘getting things done’. You’ll also need to be comfortable dealing with ambiguity – as is often the case within a strategic, corporate environment.
If this sounds like you, and you would like to understand a bit more about the role, then please do get in touch with Michelle Hope, Corporate Planning and Coordination Manager – via email.
