ROLE OF THE JOB
The Highways Development Management team is part of the wider Highways Infrastructure Team and is responsible for dealing with the highway related aspects of new developments, from the pre‑planning stage through until they become Highway Maintainable at Public Expense.
We are looking for someone who can assist in the management, supervision and co‑ordination for a team of Officers and lead on technical approvals and site inspections under the Highways Act 1980 (Sections 38 and 278), to assist in the delivery of an efficient, effective and customer‑focused service.
You will be based at County Hall in Morpeth, with flexible working arrangements which includes occasional working from home.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
* As a Principal Officer, you will have recent extensive and demonstrable experience and knowledge of the Highways Act 1980 Section 278 and Section 38 processes, including technical approvals and site inspections, together with experience of the Town and County Planning Act 1990 including the preparation of statutory responses to consultations on planning applications and enquiries.
* Degree level, or equivalent standard of education, with professional qualification and membership of a professional institute i.e. C.Eng, I Eng, MICE, MCIHT etc, and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and professional best practice.
* Experience and a proven record of accomplishment in the delivery of development management within an organisation of comparable scope and complexity.
* Strong communication skills and a flexible, proactive approach.
* Full, clean driving licence required.
