Overview
Based within the Ophthalmology POD at St Helier Hospital, the post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues relating to the patient\'s pathway of care; tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment and/or discharge.
Responsibilities
* Provide administration and clerical support for the patient pathway from referral through to treatment and/or discharge.
* Join the Ophthalmology team on a part‑time basis as a Band 4 Patient Pathway Coordinator at St Helier Hospital.
* Be IT literate and help ensure smooth and efficient pathway administration for patients during their journey through the service.
* Organise appointments, diagnostic tests and surgery/treatment dates for patients referred to Ophthalmology, working closely with clinicians and multi‑disciplinary teams.
* Book emergency surgery for patients attending the acute eye service.
* Monitor the outpatient waiting list to ensure timely care, and support the team in meeting patient access targets.
* Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, providing a high level of patient/customer care and attention to detail.
Qualifications/Experience
* IT literate with the ability to use administrative systems effectively.
* Good knowledge and understanding of patient access targets; prior administrative experience preferred.
* Highly motivated, proactive, well organised, with strong patient/customer care ethos.
* Ability to multitask, work in a team, and work under pressure in a busy office environment.
