A fantastic opportunity has arisen for the Assistant Vice President (AVP) Data Engineering to join a leading Specialist Insurer and oversee the development and implementation of data solutions to support business objectives. This includes designing and deploying scalable data platforms, managing data integration and quality, and developing advanced analytics and reporting capabilities.
About the Role
The AVP will be responsible for executing a comprehensive data strategy, ensuring compliance with data governance standards, and leading a team of data professionals to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration while partnering with the data sciences unit on the delivery of self-service analytics and a fully functional medallion data architecture.
Responsibilities:
* Oversee the development and implementation of data solutions.
* Design and deploy scalable data platforms.
* Manage data integration and quality.
* Develop advanced analytics and reporting capabilities.
* Execute a comprehensive data strategy.
* Ensure compliance with data governance standards.
* Lead a team of data professionals.
* Partner with the data sciences unit on self-service analytics.
* Implement a fully functional medallion data architecture.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Extensive relevant experience.
• Demonstrable experience in implementing data solutions, preferably within the insurance industry.
• Proficiency in modern data platforms tools (e.g., Informatica, Snowflake, Databricks) and analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Cognos).
• Experience with building foundational and modern data mesh architectures with automated Data Governance capabilities with consideration for emerging technologies.
• Good knowledge of insurance operations, including underwriting, claims, and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R.
• Exceptional communication skills
