Role: Residential Conveyancing Manager - Lead Role (Team & Operations)
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 DOE
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Benefits: City-centre car parking + competitive package
Overview
CRA Consulting are partnering with a growing Sheffield law firm to appoint a Residential Conveyancing Manager. This is a pivotal hire for an experienced fee earner (Solicitor or Legal Executive) who wants to shape how the team works, uplift profitability, and raise client service standards-while still running a quality personal caseload.
The opportunity
You'll lead day-to-day operations within a close-knit conveyancing team, refining workflow, mentoring colleagues, and owning key relationships with referrers and panels. Expect genuine autonomy to improve processes, implement KPIs, and deliver measurable margin gains.
Key responsibilities
* Run a manageable personal caseload focused on freehold/leasehold sales & purchases, with some remortgages and transfers of equity.
* Lead and supervise a small team of legal assistants/fee earners: file allocation, coaching, technical sign-off and escalations.
* Improve workflow & profitability: templates/checklists, triage, capacity planning, SLA/turnaround management, aged pipeline and completion forecasting.
* Own referrer/panel relationships: onboarding, MI reporting, conversion/retention, and service reviews.
* Quality & compliance: SRA/AML, source-of-funds, lender requirements, undertakings, and CQS-aligned best practice.
* Stakeholder management: liaise with estate agents, brokers, lenders and internal leadership; contribute to budgeting and monthly MI.
About you
* Experienced Residential Conveyancer (Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive) with 2+ years running your own sale/purchase caseload end-to-end.
* Evidence of team supervision/mentoring (or clear readiness to step into it).
* Commercially minded: comfortable with KPIs, WIP/billing discipline, margin and efficiency improvements.
* Strong communicator-calm, client-focused, and solutions-driven.
* Referrer/panel exposure highly advantageous.
What's on offer
* £45,000 - £65,000 base salary (DOE)
* City-centre parking and a competitive wider benefits package
* Modern case management systems and supportive leadership
* A clear brief to shape the team and drive continuous improvement, with progression scope as the department grows
